Role of Myocardial Deformation to Improve Assessment of Regional and Global Function in Non-Isolated Non-Compaction Cardiomyopathy: New Insights in Cardiac Mechanics

چکیده
A 55-year-old man with acute congestive heart failure was referred to the echocardiography laboratory for evaluation of a dilated cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction and criteria for non-compaction. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging confirmed a non-compacted apical LV with segmental dysfunction and an inferior myocardial infarction. Coronary angiogram showed a chronic right coronary occlusion. Speckle tracking imaging with analysis of peak systolic strain and post systolic strain index helped to differentiate ischemia and non-compaction as mechanisms of wall motion abnormalities. These findings support the concept that noncompaction is a phenotypic marker of an underlying diffuse cardiomyopathy involving both morphologically normal and non-compacted myocardium and the association with micro and macro vascular coronary arteries disease is discussed.

Evaluation of Cardiac Mitochondrial Function by a Nuclear Imaging Technique using Technetium-99m-MIBI Uptake Kinetics
Mitochondria play an important role in energy production for the cell. The proper function of a myocardial cell largely depends on the functional capacity of the mitochondria. Therefore it is necessary to establish a novel and reliable method for a non-invasive assessment of mitochondrial function and metabolism in humans. Although originally designed for evaluating myocardial perfusion, 99mTc...

Right Ventricular Non-Compaction Cardiomyopathy in Children: Brief Review Literature
Right ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy (RVNC) is a genetic heterogeneous cardiomyopathy. Despite the increasing number of RVNC cases, the classification and natural history of this disorder are not completely clear. Also, because the pathogenic non-compaction cannot be easily differentiated from normal trabeculations, it is usually hard to accurately measure the prevalence of RV ...

Isolated non compaction of left ventricular myocardium is a rare cardiomyopathy due to abnormalendomyocardialmorphogenesis. The incidence of non compaction cardiomyopathy in the general population has been estimated at 0.05% to 0.25% per year. NCCMP is a heart muscle disorder that is still little known among physicians and was first described in 1984 by engberding and bender. Echocardiograph...
متن کاملMyocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods
Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...
